Like Books? Then You Want to Be at Borders West in OctoberFor every book you buy from Borders West Side location on October 25th, 26th, or 27th, M.A.C.A.W. will receive 15% of the proceeds. This special event is happening just one week after their grand opening. In order for our club to get credited, you need to present the coupon to the cashier. If you forget your certificate, the store will be keeping a few certificates at the counter. Looking for a good book to read? I highly recommend The Parrot Who Owns Me, by famed ornithologist, Joanna Burger. It's more than just a story about her life with Tiko, an orphaned Amazon parrot; Burger has extensively studied parrot behavior in the wild, and gives first-hand accounts of her experiences. This is an incredibly heartwarming story -- one combined with scientific information, but told in a conversational, down-to-earth, and often humorous tone. You can also visit Borders (now teamed with Amazon.com) at www.amazon.com. There you can sign up to receive electronic newsletters, some which offer valuable coupons. Plus you can do an extensive search for books, and get recommendations on those that suit you. The event, called Borders Benefit Days, will be held at Borders West Side store at 3416 University Avenue; their phone number is 608-232-2600. We thank Borders for their generosity, and Margaret Robords (West Side store staff member) for helping me organize this fundraiser. COUPON TO PRINT |
